My skin Care Favourites + My skin care routine.

I have really been focusing on my skin care lately which means I am trying not to wear so much make up in order to improve my skin. I have always struggled with spots and blemishes and I have never had a skincare "routine". Lately I have been pushing myself to practice this routine every morning when I wake up and every night before I go to sleep. Let me know in the comments what are your "holy grail" skincare products that you cant live without, I would love to know :).

1. Clean and Clear Morning Energy skin brightening Moisturiser.

I have been using this moisturiser religiously for 3 or 4 years now, this product has Lemon and papaya extracts which makes it smell amazing, I love to apply this the minute I wake up or before I put on make up to substitute a primer. The only misleading thing about this product is that the " skin brightening" is due to shimmer in the product, now this wasn't a big problem for me as I didn't really notice it too much but it is a pointer to keep in mind before buying it because it doesn't really say on the bottle how it brightens and I am guessing it is because there is shimmer in it and most people don't buy products with shimmer. this product retails at €4.99 and can be found in boots stores

2. Face B4 Anti-Bacterial Face Wash.
This product was sent to me about a month ago along with the Face B4 Anti Bacterial serum which is the next product that I will talk about. This regime is a two step process to help maintain clear skin, this combined cleanser and toner helps to reduce pores and excess oil. This cleanser and toner contains Salicylic Acid that helps to remove impurities, spots, blemishes and make redness appear reduced. You have to apply this product to wet skin, when you pump the combined nozzle a foam substance comes out, you gently massage this into your face in circular motions, wait for one minute and wash off with warm water. This combined cleanser and toner is so easy to use, it has quite a strong smell but you only have to leave it on your face for 1 minute and you kinda get used to it after the first few times. I really love this stuff and I try to use it in the morning too but I mostly use it at night before I go to bed. this product retails at €18.00 and can be found in boots stores or online.

3. Face B4 Anti Bacterial Serum.
This is the second step in the Face B4 regime. This serum is supposed to moisturise , soothe and protect skin , this product is also enriched with vitamins A, B, B5 and E.
This has a very creamy consistency and doesn't have a noticeable scent. Once you have completed the Anti bacterial wash , you apply a little bit of this to your face. what I really like about these 2 products is that they are suitable for every skin type. This serum retails at €18.00 and can be found in boots stores or online.

4. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.
Before I purchased this product I was using the L'Oreal Micellar water, the reason I purchased this product is because it is twice the size of the L'Oreal one and it is cheaper too. The L’Oreal one is 200ml and retails at €4.46, This Garnier one is 400ml and retails at €3.80 in Primark stores. This product is amazing for removing make up, I use this when I get home for the day I like to remove all my make up and follow up with the face B4 products I talked about above.

IMG_1467

5. w7 Dream Clean Cleanser.
Over the past week my Garnier Micellar water has run out after almost 3months so instead of re purchasing the same product i decided to hold off and try out something new. w7 has released a few skin care products and this cleanser was one of them , I have never really used a cleanser to remove make up but I gave it a try, I applied a little bit of this to my hand and massaged it into my face to remove my make up , I then took a round cotton pad and rubbed off the excess product and I was amazed that all my make up came off. The only con about this product is the scent, It smells like the Turkish delight chocolates , I literally hate that smell, I think its really over powering but if you love that smell then this product is perfect for you. This product retails at €3.00 in Ireland.

And that's it for this weeks post. I am thinking about doing a lipstick collection and storage post for next week so let me know in the comments if you would like to see that. I have also started a YouTube channel which is https://www.youtube.com/user/KeeleySomers/videos so please head on over there and subscribe I would really appreciate it. Also let me know the type of videos you would like to see me do :) And as always thanks for reading :).

Eye liner 101 - Everything you need to know.

Eye liner is a common thing that can be a very tricky skill to master, I will go through the different types of eye liners and how to apply them easily. I will also include some pictures of how I wear the different types of eye liners on a daytime or night time basis.

Pencil Eye liners.
This is the most common eye liner used mainly because it is easy to use and quick to apply.

Pros
- They are perfect for beginners who do not have much experience.
- They are the best type for the lower lash line.
- They are very easy to blend for a smokey eye look.

Cons
- They smudge easily
- They do not give a strong line like a gel or liquid liner would.
- They do not always last as long as liquid or gel.

My Tips.
- Use a Brown eye liner instead of black for a soft daytime look.
- Set the pencil line with an eye shadow of the same colour.
- For Blue eyes look for shades of Navy and violet to bring out the white in your eyes.
- For Brown eyes look for shades of dark brown or bronze.
- For Green eyes look for shades of brown, gold or olive to enhance the green in your eyes.
- Drag the eye liner as close to your lash line as possible in short quick strokes.

Pencil Eye liners I recommend.
- Catrice cosmetics eye pencil in 050 Brown Town Girl.
- MeMeMe Eye line Pencil in Coal.
- NYC Showtime Velvet Eye liner in 953 Black Brown and 952 black Wine.

A simple look I created using Pencil liner.

Liquid Eye liners.
These types of Eye liners are probably the trickiest to master, you need a relatively steady hand and it is essential to apply it across the lash line in short thin strokes.

Pros
- Perfect for dramatic cat eye looks.
- Perfect for creating a well defined thin line to make the lashes look thicker.

cons
- Takes a lot of practice and patience to master.
- It can be difficult to apply for beginners.

My tips.
- Follow your natural eye shape because changing the eye shape using eye liner will make the eyes appear smaller than they are.
- Try and get the liner as close to your lash line as possible for a natural look.
- Use a light hand when applying , the firmer your are the thicker the line will be.
- Use a cotton bud (Q tip) to make your wing more precise.

Liquid liners I recommend.
- Wet n Wild Mega Liner in Black.
- Catrice liquid liner in 010 Dating Joe Black.
- NYC HD Liquid Eye liner in 889 Extra Black (Felt tip).

Some looks I created using Liquid Eye liner.

Gel Eye liners.

These eye liners usually come in a pot and are applied with a brush. It is more commonly used by make up artists for precise application.

Pros
- This type of eye liner is very creamy and easy to smudge
- This type of eye liner is perfect also for a smokey eye.

Cons
- The only con about this type of eye liner is that it isn't as portable and convenient as other types.

My Tips.
- Take a bit of eye liner from the pot and put it on the back of your hand , that way you can control the amount you have on your brush.
- If you are just beginning to apply gel liner it helps to apply 3 small dots on the inner, outer corner and in the middle of the lash line also this will help to control the liner and prevent overdrawing.
- Connect the 3 dots to get the prefect precise line.
- Just like the liquid liner you need to practice , practice, practice and have patience.
- Set your liner with a powder eye shadow to keep it on all day and night.

Gel Liners I recommend.
- Maybelline Eye studio Lasting Drama 24hr Gel Eye liner.
- Catrice Gel Eye liner in 010 Black Jack with Jack Black.
- Essence Gel Eye liner in 01 Midnight in Paris.

Looks I created using Gel Eyeliner

MeMeMe Cosmetics Haul + Irish Stockist.

I had heard of MeMeMe Cosmetics mainly from magazines and when I went up the north a while back they had some stock but not a lot in Superdrug. I am pretty sure most Superdrugs around the UK stock this brand. They have a Australian website also (http://www.mememecosmetics.com.au/) and on their UK website they ship internationally (http://www.mememecosmetics.co.uk/where-to-find-us) follow this link to see the list of countries they ship to. Now onto what I bought, I will leave links to all products below and I will also leave a full stockist of every pharmacy in Ireland which stocks MeMeMe cosmetics.

Blush Me! Blush Box in Coral.
All of the Blush Boxes RRP at €10.99 which is not as cheap as some of the "drugstore" brands but it is still very affordable, The packaging is very similar to all of the Benefit blushes, It is a little box which a square brush , when you open up the blush there is a mirror underneath the top which is handy to have. The blush itself is extremely pigmented and very buttery , not at all chalky or powdery like some blushes can be. This coral colour is a beautiful pop of colour for the cheeks, These blush boxes come in 3 more shades which are Rouge (a reddish pink), Bronze (a brown shimmery shade), and Pink (a bubblegum pink). Coral and Bronze are for ladies with olive or darker complexions and Pink and rouge are for ladies with Pale , Light (Irish) complexions.

Eye Inspire Catwalk Quad Collection in Ocean Eyes
I picked up the Quad in the Shade Ocean Eyes , This is a blend of 4 different shades of green from light to dark. I decided to pick up green because I don't really have that many eye shadows that are green (all shimmer). The Four shades in this quad are " green shades one light and one dark, A teal shade and a deep black shade. These Quads RRP at around €9.00. The best thing about these little quads is that they can be used wet or dry depending on how intense you want the colour to be. There are 4 other shades within this collection which are Goddess Eyes (neutral browns and creams), Fire Eyes (Pink shade, Purple shade, orange shade and a neutral brown shade), Electric Eyes (silver shade, Gold shade, Green shade and a Navy blue shade) and Drama Eyes (Deep Navy shade, Charcoal Grey shade, deep black shade and a silver shade).

IMG_1311

Light Me up Lipgloss in Lusture.
I think these lip glosses are so handy because, 1. They have a light on the inside which is so cool and 2. They have a tiny mirror on the side perfect to see your lips. These lipgloses RRP at around €7.99. the shade I picked up is Lusture which is a pinky coral shade. These lipglosses come in 6 other shades which are, blaze (orange shade), Captivate (bronzed shade), Illuminate (Baby Pink Shade), Intense (deep Red shade), Luminous (bubblegum pink shade) and Show (pinky-lilac shade).

Eye Sweep Precision Eye Definer in Hot Black.
This product is just a normal black felt tip liner , I havent really used this much but the swatch I will include shows it sort of bleeding and settling into the lines in my hand which isnt really a good sign in a liquid liner for me , Maybe it will look different on the eyes I will have to try it out and see. This product RRP's at around €7.00 and comes in one shade which is Hot Black.

IMG_1283

IMG_1103

IMG_1104

Eye Line Pencil in Coal.
These are just normal Kohl pencil Liners. These RRP at around €5.99 and come in 4 shades which are Clay (medium brown shade), Coal (deep Black shade), Lagoon (deep blue shade) and Moss (Deep green shade). I havent used this liner yet but I wanted to try out another kohl eyeliner because my other one is running out.

IMG_1116

IMG_1115

Fat Cat Mascara.
I have searched online on the Uk website but the only place I could find a link for this was the Australian Website so thats where the link below will take you. I have not used this mascara yet but I absolutely love the packaging (i will include pics below) This mascara is a volumising one, I haven't used it yet but I like the shape of the brush. This mascara RRP's at around €11.00 which is very affordable.

And that is everything I picked up from MeMeMe Cosmetics. Scroll down for a full stocklist for Ireland and a full product list of everything I mentioned in this post. I have recently downloaded and app called MakeupSocial which is basically a social networking site for those of us obsessed with make up, People post reviews, pictures and links to their blogs and YouTube channels, so if any of you are on there you can follow me (keeleys) or if your not a member check it out I promise you will love it, Im addicted already and as always thank you for reading :).

My Updated Everyday Make up Routine, Plus Hair tutorial.

This week I have picked up a few new bits but I also wanted to try out some of the wet n wild make up I talked about in last weeks haul. This look is a very natural look with a pop of pink in the eyes and the lips. This has become my everyday make up routine.

1.First I start off with my base, I like to use a moisturiser before I apply foundation just to hydrate my skin as it has been dry lately. I am using the Clean and Clear Morning energy moisturiser , I love this product it gives a natural glow to the skin before foundation. For my foundation I am using the L'Oreal Paris Nude Magique Eau De Teint in 110 Warm Ivory, I picked up this foundation last Thursday and I absolutely love it, It is extremely thin but not runny, It blends into the skin so easily and it dries to a semi-matte finish without even applying powder (although I still use it). I apply this foundation with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I added the picture because I wanted you all to see how natural it looks once applied.

IMG_1003

2. I like to let the foundation sit for a few mins so while that is sitting I fill in my eyebrows, I am using the Smashbox Brow Tech in Smashing Auburn , I comb them out first then fill them in using an angled brow brush. I then set them in my place with the Wet n Wild Mega Clear Brow and Lash Mascara (which is not so clear any more).

IMG_1142

3. Now onto Contour and highlighting , I love to cream contour I think it is so easy and very natural looking compared to powder contour. I am using the w7 Face Shaper Kit to contour and I am highlighting and concealing with the Wet n Wild Cover All Concealer in Light. To contour I Like to apply a stroke of the cream bronzer using the brush which came with the w7 kit underneath my cheekbones and along my hairline and also down the sides of my nose, and to highlight I apply the concealer in a triangle shape under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose and also in the centre of my forehead. The key to this is blending, I blend everything with an angled foundation brush. I will put pictures below of before and after contour and highlighting.

IMG_1150

[caption id="attachment_697" align="aligncenter" width="225"]Before blending Before blending[/caption][caption id="attachment_698" align="aligncenter" width="225"]After Blending After Blending[/caption]

4. Next I set everything with a powder. I used the Wet n Wild Cover All Powder in Light. I really like this powder its not too orangey and doesn't cake up, it is also quite long lasting for the price. I use the Real Techniques Contour brush to set my under eye concealer I feel like it is the perfect shape to get right under my eyes, I then set the rest of my face just using a kabuki brush or a large powder brush it just depends what is closest to me.

IMG_1153

5. I apply some blush at this point before moving onto the eyes, I like to mix together two NYC blushes which are 649 Prospect Park Rose and 655 Central Park Pink These two mixed together are beautiful, I Like to apply just Central Park Pink on the apples of my cheeks to finish off. I apply these using the Multi Task Brush by Real Techniques.

[caption id="attachment_700" align="aligncenter" width="300"](L-R) 655 Central Park Pink , 649 Prospect Park Rose (L-R) 655 Central Park Pink , 649 Prospect Park Rose[/caption]

6. Now onto the eyes, This eye look is so simple and easy to create in just 4 steps. Step 1: I apply Crème brûlée by Wet n Wild all over my lid and brow bone Step 2: I blend Noisette/Nutty by Wet n Wild into my crease to create some definition and to break up the pink. Step 3: I apply Copper Pot from the new palette by w7 which is the In The Nude Palette into my crease using a small precise blending brush to give this eye look a pop of colour Step 4. I finished off by adding Brown eye liner to my lash line and I winged this out. I like to use Brown during the day because it is softer then black. The eye liner I used was 050 Brown Town Girl by Catrice.

[caption id="attachment_701" align="aligncenter" width="300"](L-R) Nutty/Noisette , Crème brûlée (L-R) Nutty/Noisette , Crème brûlée[/caption][caption id="attachment_702" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Copper Pot Copper Pot[/caption][caption id="attachment_703" align="aligncenter" width="300"](L-R) 1. 2. Nutty, Noisette , 3.Copper Pot

7. To finish off I add some mascara , I recently picked up The colossal Go Extreme! Volum' by Maybelline and I really like this mascara it definitely gives volume but not too much length so I use They're Real by Benefit to give my lashes a bit of length.

IMG_1171

IMG_1034

7. For the final part of my make up I apply Think pink by Wet n wild to my lips and Spray my face with Fix+ by Mac to set everything in place.

IMG_1037

Now onto my hair. I used the BaByliss Volume Waves Hair wand which is just a large 38mm Barrel which helps create soft voluminous waves. This wand is only about €25.00 Which is very affordable for a curling Wand.

1. It is key to make sure the curls are falling away from the face to create this you must use the opposite hand to the side you are using , for example when curling the left side place the wand in your right hand pointing down and wrap the curl around the wand away from your face. Repeat the same step all over the head changing directions for the Right side. Below are some pictures of the first curl and the underneath of my hair curled.

IMG_1053

IMG_1055

once curled you can pin back your fringe/bangs if you wish , I have a middle parting so I just left it alone and didn't pin it back. And the look is complete, hair and make up, I will include a few pictures below of the finished product both hair and make up.

IMG_1057

IMG_1069

IMG_1064

I hope you all liked this tutorial , it is extremely easy and simple to create and beatufiul for everyday use, This hair is also really nice for a night out on the town but just make sure to finish with a good hairspray to keep these waves in place. I hope you enjoyed and as always thanks for reading :).
