Small Revlon Haul.

I Recently picked up a few bits from Cara Pharmacy which are all Revlon Products, I know some of these products have been around for a long time and I am a tad late on the bang wagon for some of them, but hey its better late than never :).

1. Revlon Colour burst Lip Butter.
These Lip Butters have been around for quite some time now but I really wanted to try them back then and never got round to purchasing them , I then forgot about them for a while so now I am finally trying them out . I picked up 2 shades which are 045 Cotton candy and 080 Strawberry Shortcake. First of all what I really like about these is the packaging, They have a transparent case which is the colour of the lipstick, They also have a little clear plastic square at the top which allows you to see the shade of the lipstick.

Cotton Candy is a light frosty pink which isn't very pigmented but I can tell by the consistency that it will be very moisturising and a nice natural flush of colour on the lips. I expected this shade to be a lot more of a candy pink mainly because of the name and the colour of the packaging but it doesn't come out the same way when swatched.

Strawberry shortcake is a lot more pigmented than Cotton Candy, this shade would be a beautiful everyday pink shade. It also has a slight blue undertone which will make your teeth appear whiter. This shade is less shimmery than Cotton Candy.

2. Revlon Colour stay Ultimate Suede Lipstick.
Lipsticks are my weakness, I will never have enough no matter how hard I try. This year I am really excited about autumn/winter because it means darker lipstick and layering! I love dark purple and red lipsticks. This shade is 035 Backstage. It is a beautiful dark maroon shade, It has a glossy finish which makes this lipstick more wearable because it isn't as pigmented as a matte lipstick would be. This Lipstick was €3 which is amazing value for a Revlon lipstick.

3. Revlon 16Hr Eye shadow Quad.
I have tried Revlon eye shadows in the past and loved them so I picked up this quad in the shade 500 Addictive. This is a neutral based palette which has a light cream shade with specks of silver glitter in it, a light taupe shade with silver glitter in it, a medium toned brown which has a satin finish and a dark matte brown. This palette is the prefect palette if you are starting off with make up and you want a palette with a few shades for everyday wear, this palette is also perfect for travelling because it is small and compact. This palette was €4 which is very affordable.

4. Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara.
This item was a re-purchase as I had it a few months back but I hadn't seen it for a while so when I saw it I picked it up, I love this mascara so much it gives my lashes volume and length and it doesn't go clumpy on the lashes. This mascara was €3.

Stila In the moment palette review

This week I was on the hunt for a good quality eye shadow palette that I could use for my grad (debs/prom) as I will be doing my own make up, Originally I wanted to purchase the In The Light palette mainly because it contained Kitten which is a very popular eye shadow and highlight shade by Stila, but they were sold out. It took me a while to make a decision between the in the garden , in the know and in the moment palettes. In the end I went with the In the moment because in my opinion it is the closest to the in the light palette shade wise. This palette was €27, which is my opinion is a brilliant price for a palette from such a popular brand.

DSCF0257

This palette comes in a lilac cardboard packaging which is the only thing I dislike about this palette because it feels very cheap for the price. Initially when you take the palette out of the packaging there is a little look book which contains 6 looks and instructions on how to re-create them, I really like this feature to the palette because I think for beginners starting out it is really helpful.

This palette also includes a full size Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in the shade "Tetra" which is a deep purple shade with silver glitter in it. Also instead of a mirror on the top of this palette there is a lovely quote from Stila's Global Director of Education Sarah Lucreo which reads "Cherish the beauty of the moment"

Now onto the shades , This palette contains 10 eye shadows with one matte and the rest a mix of shimmer, satin, and frosty shades, all eye shadows can be used wet or dry. The top row of shadows is mainly purple shades from light to dark with one neutral pinky shade which is my favourite shade from this palette. The top row of shadows contain Instinct which is a frosty pinky cream shade, Impulse which is a frosty pale lilac , Glance which is a rich medium toned purple with a satin finish , Improvise which is a plum shade with chunks of purple glitter in it, and Catalyst which is a deep black with purple glitter.

The Bottom row of eye shadows is all neutral shades which are Desire which is a matte pale peach shade that is not as pigmented as the others , Wonder which is pinkish tan shade with a satin finish , Spontaneous which is a shimmery copper shade , Whim which is a warm shimmery brown which again is not as pigmented as the others , and Captivate which is frosty brown with metallic glitter in it. My favourite shades from this palette are definitely Instinct ,spontaneous ,whim and captivate.

Mattify Cosmetics Review

Mattify Cosmetics are a cruelty free 95% vegan company. They have 3 products which are not vegan and one of them is their highlighter which will be featured in this post, Their products are mainly designed for those with oily skin and are mostly powder based. They offer a variety of products for the face, eyes and lips and they were generous enough to let me pick 4 products from their website. I received these products about a week ago and I have been trying them out over the past week so I would be able to give and honest opinion on all 4 products.

First off I want to mention the packaging of all products in general. They come in little clear circular containers with a screw on/off lid, I love the packaging because it is simple and I can clearly see what is in the container when I have it stored with the rest of my make up I don't have to open it up too see what it is. They also have a little sticker on the bottom with their logo and the name/shade of the product which is simple and practical. Now onto the products.

1. Mattify Original Transparent powder.
This powder comes in 3 different options, They have Mattify original which is the one I got, this is aimed at people with combination skin and retails at $7.99 ,Mattify ULTRA which is aimed at people with very oily skin and retails at $12.99 and lastly, Mattify sensitive which is aimed at people with sensitive skin and retails at $10.99. I absolutely love this powder I use it to set my under eye concealer. It gives my under eyes a flawless finish and keeps my concealer on all day. The picture below is the powder just applied and at the end of the day, there isn't any major difference in the 2 pictures. I would 100% recommend this powder it is amazing quality and great value.

2. Mattify Long Lasting Blush in Harmony.
This blush is the perfect natural flush of pink for fair complexions, It has made its way into my all time favourite blushes. It gives my skin a natural healthy wash of colour. On the Mattify website they have 3 blushes all designed for different skin tones, Harmony is for fair complexions, Strawberry Wine is for cool skin tones and Terra Cotta is for warm skin tones. These blushes retail at $2.50 which is amazing value for the quality of this blush.

3. Mattify Highlighter.
This product is a beautiful pinky highlighter, It has tiny bits of silver glitter which give the skin a beautiful glow. I apply this product to the tops of my cheekbones, my chin and my nose. The only thing I would recommend is for them to maybe have one or two more shades of highlighter just because this one is on the pinky side and not everybody likes pink toned highlighters but other than that it is a beautiful product. This product retails at $7.99 which is a very reasonable price you can also buy a bronzer and a highlighter for $14. Below are some swatches of this product.

4. Long Lasting Eye shadow in Summer Storm.
These eye shadows come in a variety of colours from different collections, This particular colour is from the Rich Jewels Collection. This eye shadow is extremely pigmented it is a stone grey shade with little bits of silver glitter. I am going to do an eye tutorial using this eyeshadow maybe a going out look or something like that because this colour is so pretty. All of their eyeshadows retail at $4.99, they also have little bags with 4 eye shadows for $14.99. Below are some swatches of this product.

My Top 5 Palettes

To continue my Top 5 "series" I am going to share my Top 5 go to palettes. All of these I use almost every time I do my make up.

1.Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay
I have already posted an in depth review on this palette so I am not going to go into too much detail but this is my favourite palette of all time and I would highly recommend investing In it. my favourite shades are Chopper , Foxy , Suspect , YDK and Snakebite.

20140219-155338.jpg

2.Naked Basics by Urban Decay
This palette is mainly a matte palette it consists of 6 shades, 4 matte and 2 shimmer. The shades in this palette are Venus which is a champagne shimmer , Foxy which is a yellow-y cream matte , W.O.S which is a light nude matte , Naked 2 which is a medium taupe matte , Faint which is a warm matte brown and Crave which is a deep black with tiny bits of shimmer. This palette retails at €29.00 not as expensive as the rest of the Naked palettes but still not the cheapest. This palette can be used for your eyebrows as well , Faint is a universal eyebrow shade. If you love matte eyeshadows or even want to try them out I would recommend this palette.

3.Sleek Vintage Romance Palette (141)
I purchased this palette back in November I apologise if you cannot get it in stores because I'm pretty sure it was a limited edition collection. This palette has 12 eyeshadows they are Pretty in Paris which is a silver with a metallic finish , Meet in Madrid which is a gold with yellow and orange undertones and a frosted finish , Court in Cannes which is a medium warmed toned brown with a golden sheen and a frosted finish , Lust in LA which Is a warm chocolate brown with reddish undertones and a frosted finish , Romance in Rome which Is a cool dark purple with a frosted finish , Propose in Prague which Is a warm dark brown with reddish orange undertones and a matte finish , A Vow in Venice which is a medium berry tone with a frosted finish , Honeymoon in Hollywood which is a deep berry-wine with a silver sparkle and a satin finish , Bliss in Barcelona which is a violet purple with a frosted finish , Forever in Florence which is a dark Burgundy with red undertones and a silver sparkle , and Love in London which is a black with silver sparkle.

4. Blush Palette
I purchased this palette from a shopping app called wish. This palette has 10 Blushes from bright pinks to light oranges. This palette was $8.00 which is about €5.80 I think this is a steal for 10 blushes. The only problem I had with this was the way it came to me I received it and one of the blushes was completely smashed all over the rest I was so disappointed but the website has amazing customer service and refunded me my money within 2 days , they also gave me an option for a new one but because it was only one that was smashed I didn't see much point. I absolutely love this palette I use it regularly I like to mix some of the colours together to get the perfect blush shade.

20140219-162347.jpg

5. Stilla Custom Quad /palette
I created this palette myself , I purchased the 4 eyeshadows and the compact separate in Cara Pharmacy, They were having a big sale at the time and each cost me €1.00.In total this palette cost me €5.00 which is unbelievable for a Stilla product. This palette contains 4 eyeshadows which are Kalahoo which is a light matte brown , Viola which is a grey - purply shimmer , Nanda Devi which is a chocolate matte brown and Makalu which is a matte black. The eyeshadow pans they come in are really big they are bigger then the Mac pans you can buy , I would recommend all of these eyeshadows they are brilliant quality.

Urban Decay Naked 2 dupe

The Naked and Naked 2 palettes from Urban Decay have been the centre of many beauty related "must haves" for a long time now, Most people either have or want one of these palettes. The naked 2 palette retails at 44Euro here in Ireland, it isn't the cheapest of palettes but for those of you who want one but refuse to pay that amount of money for a single palette, I have found probably the cheapest identical alternative or "dupe" for this palette.

IMG_1052 (2)

The dupe I have found comes from a brand called w7, and the palette is called the "in the buff" palette. I purchased this palette from Cara Pharmacy here in Sligo. I will leave links down below to purchase this palette online. it retails at 5Euro in Ireland or £5.50 in the UK, This is almost 9 times cheaper than the naked 2 palette.

IMG_1054 (2)

Originally when I heard about this palette and saw it in the shop I presumed it was a dupe for the first Naked palette but when I got it home and compared it to both the Naked and Naked 2 palettes I realised that it was identical to the Naked 2 palette.

IMG_1047

Each palette includes 12 eye shadows. 3 matte, 8 shimmer and 1 metallic colour. Each palette also comes with a double ended brush and of course the Naked 2 "Good Karma" brush is better quality compared to the brush that is included in the "In The Buff" palette. This is one of very few minor differences in these two palettes. the Naked 2 brush is on top and the "In The Buff" brush is on the bottom in the picture below.

IMG_1055 (2)

The other minor differences in the palettes are, The Naked 2 has a mirror whereas the "In The Buff" does not, the Naked 2 also comes with a free lip gloss whereas the "In The Buff" palette does not but for 5 Euro a free gift is not really expected. The only major difference in these palettes is the price. I have swatched both palettes on my arm just to show how similar they really are. The Naked 2 is on top and the "In The Buff" is underneath.

IMG_1061

As you can see by the swatches, there is little or no difference in the palettes. The colour pay off and staying power of each one are the exact same. Finally, I have created an eye look that can be used for daytime or night time with each palette. I have used the w7 "In The Buff" palette on my right eye and the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette on my left eye. I will leave links below to buy the "In The Buff" palette online, I will also leave the names of the colours I have used below. Thanks for reading :).

IMG_1048

The colour I used from each palate were:
Naked 2 - Foxy, Tease, YDK, Snakebite, Busted, Verve, Blackout, Booty call.
In The Buff - Buff, Chocolate, Wave, Topaz, Thunder, Silk, Sand, Onyx.
